Looking around my stacks of midget spares, I thought to myself: "I'd better throw this stock stuff out, or make a race car.."  Knowing Zilch about road racing, I thought an Improved Touring Midget might be a fun / cool thing to do (heh, I wasn't thinking about winning).  The absolute lightest (1435 lbs empty) specified car in the I.T. specs, it looked good on paper.

The car was thrown together (literally) in about 12 weeks.  We went from bare tub to race ready in Winter (well, spring) 1999.  The bare tub started as a virtually rust free 1972 round wheel arch (RWA) Midget (1275 cc, of course).  Many^3 thanks to Tim D. and Peter M. for help putting the cage & car together.

The Improved Touring specs are quite minimalist for performance.  Chassis wise: springs / bars / shocks are open (but shocks must remain lever type).  Engine can go 0.040 overbore, but ZERO head porting, stock cam & carbs must be used.  Any final drive ratio / LSD may be used.  Interior may be (mostly) gutted, but things like washer bottles must stay.

So, check out the links on the left to see a more detailed description.
