This tip originally comes from Haddon racing in St Louis, MO. While subjecting an assortment of clutches (Including "Name Brand" expensive clutches) to multiple Solo2 launches - which usually consist of dumping a 120+ HP motor at about 5K; consistent failure mode were observed..... The result? A simple, cheap, durable solution.
This is a stock pressure plate that has had the carbon disk removed for the roller throwout bearing.
By simply "doubling up" the straps, the stressed member's strength is doubled (or close to)
If you've got an extra pressure plate, scam the straps!
Here is the picture of the roller throwout bearing. Also note the scars worn by this bellhousing!
Here is the stock clutch fork with roller TO. The aluminum tube acts as a guide for the bearing. |
